The first term of school at Open Arms Academy

8th April, 2010 - Posted by Camille Cotton -

imga0043We concluded the end of our first term at Open Arms Academy with a small ceremony on April 1 (no joking!) with a brief ceremony raising the Kenyan flag on the property (the first time we have done that) and with all of the children in their new Open Arms regalia. There are still some sweaters with the Open Arms logo we are waiting for, but you can get the idea with these photos of the children in their brightly colored uniforms. They were ecstatic yesterday when they began trying on their new uniforms. After the flag raising ceremony, we had a ceremony under the tent with the local District Children’s Officer, a representative from the District Education Office, and the two area chiefs. Most of the Eldoret OAI staff came also, and we had about 40 adults and 30 children in attendance. What a wonderful blessing to celebrate the first term of the Open Arms Academy!
