Sowing the seeds

2 years ago I submitted a small article about Open Arms international to the Christian Medical Fellowship website. It wasn’t done with any great fanfares, just quietly posted with regard to opportunities to serve overseas.
One of the people that read that article about a year later was a doctor who is looking forward a couple of years to retirement and considering how he and his wife will spend it. They contacted me, and after various conversations, they are now considering going out to Kenya to serve long-term, and in the meantime will do the 2-week medical team this summer.
The church that they attend have chosen to support the couple, and have committed to raising a large sum of money for Open Arms this year.
Last week I went to speak at the church about Open Arms, and discovered that within the congregation is one older lady who was born in Eldoret, and two others who have worked in Kenya in the past and are delighted to find ways to reconnect with a country they are so fond of.
I also spoke at the church school, and the children there have chosen to raise funds for Open Arms as well.
And today I heard that the 5 rural churches in the parish have now also decided to raise funds for Open Arms;
and all in a part of the UK where Open Arms had never been heard of 1 year ago! And all as a result of one little article!

The moral of this story: actions may seem little at the time, but never underestimate how much they can grow in God’s hands
