Mary

You may have heard about Mary by now, the newest child to come live at our Village.  At only four years old, she’s already suffered through the deaths of both parents, severe poverty and serious illness.  It’s heartbreaking to imagine what she’s been through.

While the majority of the kids at our Village have similar horrific pasts, for some reason her face has been stuck in my mind since I first saw her photos.  She has a sadness in her eyes that is difficult to forget.

Thankfully, we have a great team on the ground that is caring for her every need now, and making sure she is loved.  But what can those of us who aren’t in Kenya do to help Mary, and the thousands of children like her?

We can pray.   Over and over again the Bible tells us that the Lord hears our cries and has compassion on us.  And as much as we love these precious little children, God treasures them even more.  James 5:15 says, ” And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.”

Will you remember Mary and all the hurting children of Eldoret and pray with us?

Thank you so very much for reminding us about the power of SPECIFIC prayers in addition to prayers in general.
