Families Reunited

10th February, 2010 - Posted by Helen Harrison -

I was reading a report from the Kenya office the other day of some of the street kids that are being reunited with their families as a result of the counselling and support received through the Open Arms street kids ministry.

Morris Mordekai is an ex-street boy in Eldoret, and now runs the programme for Open Arms, and he spends up to 6 days each week with the children, mostly boys, living on the streets - building friendships with them, counselling them, and where possible supporting them if they wish to try and return home.

There was a photo attached to the report, of a father blessing the son that had returned, and the report spoke of the family celebration that took place.

Thanks to donations received by Open Arms, Morris was also able to supply the money needed to buy a school uniform so that the lad could not only return home, but return to school.

The result: a family reunited, one more child in school, one less child living on the streets, and one more life transformed

it really was an example of the Prodigal Son story re-enacted in modern day; who says the Bible isn’t relevant today?
