Successful medical outreach!

It was really great being able to treat people in our community with our least outreach team of the summer. We did something newbecause we did not want to begin giving “hand-outs” at the Open Arms Village as it would set a precedence that we would not be able to sustain long term. We charged people at registration a very small fee…65 cents for adults and 25 cents for children. (This is less than the local clinics charge and they also charge additionally for each medication) The great news for us is that we actually recovered enough money to cover the doctors fees and clinical officers fees!
People could not believe that we would only charge such a small amount, and so a rumor spread that we were giving out expired medicine! Only 182 people came in the first two days combined. Evidently, the word got around quickly that we were giving good medicine and giving ample supplies rather than the typical five-day doses that most clinics only give. So the last two days of clinic were packed!
In total we saw 869 people at our medical camp and AMPATH partnered with us one day and saw an additional 155 people who were tested for HIV (thankfully, only two were positive).
David preached the gospel and 122 people came to Christ! They are our neighbors, so that is thrilling to me!
Praise the Lord and remember that “if it was not for you, none of this would be taking place.”
Blessings!
