what does love look like?

I’ve just been reading an article in Christianity magazine which is an interview with Heidi Baker. For those of you who don’t know who she is, Heidi is an amazing lady who, along with her husband Rolland, set up Iris Ministries in Mozambique - along the same lines of amazing couples as Rachel and David Gallagher really!
Anyway, Heidi was talking about how they show God’s love to those around them; she said: “if [the mozambican's] walk 20 hours for water, love looks like a well; if they’re hungry, love looks like rice and beans; if they have no school, incarnational love looks like us building them a school and providing them a teacher.”
A very straightforward and effective way of determining how to show people love - what haven’t they got, and how can it be given to them?
At Open Arms, the children we meet most times don’t have a safe environment to grow up in, or loving parents to take care of them, or access to food and medical care - so that’s what we provide, ongoing through the feeding programmes and sponsorship, as well as when the teams go and do medical clinics.
But this philosophy of how to show love can also be applied to those we meet in the west - at work, at school, at church, in the street, in the shops…..if everyone started asking the question of others a little more, that’d be a whole lot more love going around, and just think how that might change our communities.

Appreciated your thoughts. We were inspired to hear Heidi Baker speak last week in St Andrews Scotland. What faith, what love. Praying for your team as you work for Jesus. Jeanette, Bethany’s mum. x
