Team 2 is in Eldoret!
30th June, 2009 - Posted by Camille Cotton -
Jambo! It is 10:40pm Tuesday June 30, and we are happy to be in Eldoret, Kenya, with all of our luggage! Everyone is doing quite well, but the American team members are still struggling with jet lag and having a hard time sleeping at night and an equally hard time staying awake during the day!
We enjoyed the past two days of exploring Nairobi, shopping and seeing some of the local wildlife, including Giraffes, baby Elephants and a baby Rhino that charged at several of our team members. Don’t worry, no one was hurt and we have some great stories to tell and fabulous photos of some endangered animals. We have enjoyed the local coffee house that everyone raves about and discovered how much better the coffee is here (sorry Starbucks fans).
Tomorrow we will visit the OAI Village, meet the children and see the construction. We realize that plans are an ever changing thing and what we set out to do today may not be what actually happens, but we are planning to spend all day Thursday working at the Village helping with the various construction projects. The clinic will go as planned, with set up on Saturday, and clinic running Monday though Thursday of next week.
All for now, as I am one of those Americans who is exhausted and really needs some sleep. Our accommodations are extremely lovely with reliable access to the internet, so stay tuned for more updates.
Lynn, for Team 2
